about

Esra Parlak discovered photography while studying architecture in Istanbul and later urban planning in Paris. What began with a 35mm film camera gradually became a quiet, intuitive way of observing the world around her. Her academic background shaped her sensitivity to space, structure, and the way people move through cities—but her photographs often focus on what’s left behind, what goes unnoticed, or what quietly endures.

Working mostly in black and white or muted tones, she captures the poetry of everyday urban life: faded walls, empty streets, distant figures, and fleeting gestures. Her images hold a sense of stillness, yet speak of time, place, and memory.

She currently works between Europe and beyond, using her camera to explore cities with a slow, attentive eye.
